- MEMORY and HARD DRIVES -
The MEMORY (RAM) temporarily holds information while the computer is running.
Adding extra memory to your machine is the first thing to consider. I always recommend installing the
maximum amount that the computer can accept. Memory allows the computer to 'THINK' on it's feet and
the more memory it has .. the faster it can think.

The HARD DRIVE stores all of your your saved files permanently.
Today's hard drives are bigger and faster than ever, making Windows a happy camper. Even if your old drive is
fine, you can keep it in your computer as the backup for files .. while the new one runs your programs.
Seagate brand drives are always my first choice. They perform great, are very reliable, and come with an
amazing FIVE year warranty to back up their claims.

- DVD DRIVES
-
A DVD drive allows you to watch or record movies and is also an excellent way to save important files on a
recordable DVD or CD disc. If your computer came with one already, a second DVD drive allows you to make
disc-to-disc copies. Today's DVD drives are very affordable and most computers support them.

- VIDEO CARDS and SOUND CARDS
-

Since most machines come with built-in video and sound, these upgrades usually make sense when a
more demanding task is at hand, such as video gaming or semi-pro audio recording. The better cards are
more expensive than typical computer hardware and offer great results.
